Lexus RX 350 hail damage repair

We recently removed over 300 dents from a Lexus RX 350 in Bethesda, Maryland. Each dent had to be pushed out by hand, one at a time. This hail damage repair job was completed at one of our body shop clients, Chevy Chase Acura. In order to gain access to the underside of the dents, disassembly of the headliner was required. We also had to remove the insulator under the hood and actually take the hood off of the car and place it on a special stand. This allowed us to access and view the hood from 360 degrees during the PDR repair.

The most challenging panel to repair on this job, was the hood. It is made of aluminum, which is a more challenging material to work with. The stiffer alloy requires sharper tools, more physical strength, and ample amounts of patience. The hood on the Lexus RX also has a lot of reinforcement. The underside is almost completely sealed with multiple layers of sheet metal. The only access points for traditional PDR tools were a few slots and tiny holes. Despite the limitations, we were able to remove every single dent on this vehicle with paintless dent repair and glue pulling. In the video below, you can view how much harder it is to push a dent out of an aluminum panel.
